The majesty and grandeur of the great American
Northwest echo throughout this relaxing mountain retreat. Bubbling springs, authentic Native American carvings, and an inspiring
decor with a massive lobby fireplace, reflect the historic National Park lodges of yesteryear.
Scenic wonders are everywhere at Disney's Wilderness
Lodge, from the specially-themed restaurants to an amazing geyser faithfully shooting water 12 stories high every hour. The
wilderness was never more wonderful. Enter a soaring split-log lobby, eight stories high, honoring American craftsmanship
and artistry. Bask in the harmony of natural elements, towering totems, Native American culture and the pioneering legacy
of the American frontier, while you sample the beauty and majesty of the great outdoors — and all the pleasures of a
Disney Resort that treasures your presence.
Disney's Wilderness Lodge was inspired
by Early American National Parks Service lodges. The lakeside lodge is an 8 story, log-structured building. The centerpiece
of Disney Wilderness Lodge is the main lobby. A massive 82 foot tall, three-sided stone fireplace is surrounded by rustic-looking,
wooden rocking chairs. Four large tepee chandeliers hang overhead and two 55 foot high totem poles stand guard at the entrance.
The multi-colored flooring was inspired by Northwest Indian designs. A bubbling hot spring originates in the lobby and appears
to continue on outside where it is transformed into a roaring waterfall that "pours" into the swimming area. Follow the path
behind the pool area to a 120 foot geyser that erupts hourly from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Other perks of a visit to the Wilderness
Lodge include: boat service to the Magic Kingdom, special guided tours of the resort, (one that concentrates on the architecture
and landscaping, and the other is a "Tastes of the Lodge" tour that allows you to sample some of the culinary delights found
in the lodge restaurants), the Discovery Island Animal show, the Ladybug Release, the opportunity to be the "Flag Family"
(who participates in the 7 a.m. American flag raising ceremony, complete with photograph and certificate commemorating the
event) and of course the front row seating on the boat dock for the "Electrical Water Pageant" that crosses Bay Lake nightly.
